The first and often over-looked step, of teaching a puppy how to walk calmly on a loose lead, is to build engagement and relationship with you, on the lead, in different environments.

When you are out and about with your puppy, YOU should be the most important and valuable thing to your puppy in each environment.

Your puppy will not be able to walk on a loose lead, if they find more value in the distractions in the environment (such as other people, dogs, smells and sounds).

If we first spend time just having fun and building value for us and our relationship with the puppy in lots of different environments, your puppy's loose leash walking training will be much more successful.
